Broadband Hot Mirrors
Hot mirrors transmit visible wavelengths, while reflecting infrared wavelengths that would otherwise transfer heat into an optical system. These hot mirrors exhibit three spectral regions – transparency in the visible, reflectance in the near infrared, and an oscillatory pattern in the infrared. Omega Optical now offers unique broadband hot mirrors that extend the reflecting region across the entire infrared (see figures 1 and 2).
Omega deposits ITO by co-sputtering indium oxide and tin oxide. The average transmission of ITO in the visible is between 80-85% and reflection in the IR is >80% (see the red curves in the figures).
