Spotlight on Patrick Morrissey

Fri, 09/10/2021 - 13:15
QA Manager
Patrick and a microscope

This month, we are featuring Quality Assurance Manager, Patrick Morrissey. Patrick has been working at Omega for the past several years, leading us through several ISO audits and keeping our quality up to snuff. He has the final say on whether to ship parts and as our low return rates show, he does a great job!

Briefly describe what a typical day might look like for you.

I respond to questions and requests from Sales, Engineering and customers, fulfill requests for regulatory data and fill out customer surveys. I perform First Article preparations and compilations. I also log and inspect Customer Supplied Materials and other incoming materials as they arrive, such as bare glass substrates. I maintain the Quality Management System, and perform outgoing inspection of finished parts. Suffice it to say, I keep busy!

What led you to working at Omega Optical?

I spent 40 years in the flexible packaging (plastics) industry, from production line operator to production manager and several positions in between. After dozens of resume submissions and many painful interviews, I was offered a position here.

What is your favorite part about working at Omega Optical?

Great people, fascinating technology and always learning something new.

What have you learned since working at Omega Optical?

Everything. I knew nothing about the industry when I started.

What is your favorite activity to do outside of work?

Cycling
